I use printmaking as my medium and my work often expands into textile, paper making and installation.
My Printmaking
In my printmaking practice, I venture beyond traditional techniques to incorporate three-dimensional elements that actively engage viewers. By exploring sustainable printing methods, I aim to reveal a different dimension of the craft while prioritising environmental consciousness. My approach is not confined to a singular method; instead, I focus on how to evoke the atmosphere necessary to express my subject matter. I frequently deconstruct and reconstruct my prints, crafting immersive three-dimensional landscapes that celebrate the inherent materiality of the print itself.
I recently completed my Master’s degree at West Dean College of Art and Conservation, where the stunning landscape profoundly influenced my art. This experience pushed me to delve beyond the mere visual, encouraging me to explore the deeper meanings behind the act of making. I discovered that the essence of slow making has significantly transformed my artistic practice.
Our connection to the land, along with the interplay between materials and the passage of time, evokes strong emotional responses. In my work, I utilise found objects, weaving them together with printmaking techniques. This approach not only honours the materials themselves but also invites a wider audience to engage with the themes I explore. By intertwining these elements, I aim to create pieces that resonate on a deeper level, fostering a collective understanding of our shared relationship with the world around us.
